Just a quick post to draw attention to a very interesting article by Deep-Sea News that relates the location of a Cretaceous-era coastline to current political leanings in the deep south. Article here: ‘How presidential elections are impacted by a 100 million year old coastline

There’s a belt of counties through South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama that consistently votes democratic in recent history, and through this article, is plausibly linked to the soil-enrichment that a 100-million year old coastline provided. Pretty fascinating!
